How much do you make? Tell us in Game Developer magazine's annual salary survey

The editors of Gamasutra sister publication Game Developer magazine have invited developers to take part in the annual Game Developer Salary Survey, which compares salaries and benefits from throughout the video game industry.

With this information, the publication will provide a snapshot of what developers are earning across a broad swath of disciplines, offering data that can help inform (and hopefully benefit) the entire game development community.

Once again, the survey will maintain its year-on-year comparison of salaries, benefits, and home-owning statistics across North America and Europe, and all developers within these regions are encouraged to participate.

The survey takes approximately seven minutes to complete, and will run until February 17. The results from the survey will debut in the April 2012 issue of Game Developer magazine.

Those interested in participating can fill out the survey now. The process is completely anonymous, and specific individuals will not be associated with any of the presented information.

The survey doesn't allow for anyone who works in publishing and is not salaried, such as an assistant project manager, or publisher QA.

Publishing is not game development...

"Game Developer Salary Survey, which compares salaries and benefits from throughout the video game industry."

Publishing is part of the industry though...

Obviously they aren't looking for that data then.

Hey Matthew. The survey allows for "publisher-owned developer" and also "game publisher" as choices for salaried employee. I guess you missed it?

Brandon, I only see those options if I select 'Salaried employee' on the third question. In my comment above I wrote "non-salaried".

On the third page, all I see is:

How would you characterize your job in game development?

Select one

Individual indie developer

Member of an indie team

Independent contractor (not part of a team)

Not involved with the game industry

That's after selecting between salaried and non-salaried.

None of these apply to me.

Also I am only seeing options for Indie development, there are no options for people who are part of larger companies.

none
