EA CFO Eric Brown resigns

Electronic Arts chief financial officer Eric Brown has resigned from his position at the company, Gamasutra has learned.

Brown's last day at the company will be next Friday, February 17. The following Tuesday he will start his new role as both the CFO and COO of communications company Polycom.

In the interim, current chief accounting officer and senior vice president Kenneth Barker will serve as CFO.

Brown first joined EA in 1998, as the COO of its Redwood Shores studio, though he left the company for a time to serve as the CFO of MicroStrategy, Inc. and later McAfee, Inc. Brown returned to EA just under three years ago.

"I am thrilled to return to EA where I can bring together my professional experience with my passion for the industry," Brown said in a statement ahead of his April, 2008 appointment. "It's a great opportunity to join EA at this pivotal time and support the company's growth initiatives in the years ahead."

Electronic Arts did not immediately reply to requests for comment.

why would he leave a $6B company to go to a $3B company unless something really wrong.....

EA being a $6B company has nothing to do with his job satisfaction. Saying there is something wrong and that's why he is leaving is a bit of a shot in the dark.

Doesn't seem like a big deal since he has a history of coming and going. Perhaps the problem is with mr Brown and not the companies?

But there are numerous EA executive also left during the past 12 months. So I think there might be something really wrong with EA..something funny happening...

The large amount of people leaving is due to the corporation restructuring. There was an article on this very site. It had to do with the good numbers they put through in digital sales.
